Samsung's newer Galaxy S series (S23, S24, and similar flagship models) rely heavily on USB-C Power Delivery (PD) negotiation combined with internal fast-charging control circuits. When these phones stop "Super Fast Charging," fall back to basic charging, or refuse to charge at all, the issue is often deeper than the charging port.

Inside the device, the USB-C port feeds into a charging sub-circuit that includes a charging IC, current sensing resistors, and protection components that regulate voltage input and prevent overcurrent damage.

Board-Level Protection Faults

A common failure we see in the field is damage to the USB-C sub-board or corrosion inside the main board charging path. Even partial liquid exposure or a weak short can cause the phone to disable fast charging entirely as a protective measure.

In more advanced cases, the charging IC itself or surrounding filter components on the main board fail, forcing the device into a low-current "safe charge mode."
